Edward Bayley
Clinical interests
Edward Bayley is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon with a full-time NHS practice at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. His practice includes all aspects of paediatric and adult spinal surgeries, except adult deformity surgery.
He is currently the lead clinician for the Paediatric Spinal Service.
Current National Roles include Education Representative to the British Scoliosis Society 2023 - 2026. Spinal TIG chairperson 2025 -
Qualifications and training

Mr Bayley was appointed as a consultant spinal surgeon in 2019 having trained in Trauma and Orthopaedics in the East Midlands North Deanery. He undertook Spinal Fellowship training in Leicester and Nottingham, a Royal College Approved Fellowship, before undertaking the Paediatric Spine Fellowship Sheffield Children's Hospital. He was appointed as a Consultant Spinal Surgeon at Sheffield Children's Hospital in June 2019, before returning to Nottingham in October 2023.
Research and Education
Mr Bayley is a clinical Supervisor and Educator to medical students. He is also a trained Educational Supervisor and appraiser.
He undertook a Research Fellow post at the Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery, Nottingham before embarking on his Orthopaedic Specialist Training. He has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals and has presented his work at National and International Conferences.
Mr Bayley has presented at neurological courses, as well as educational days at BOA and British Scoliosis Society conferences.
