Rodric Francis

Consultant microbiologist

Dr. Rodric Francis is a Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. He graduated from the University of Nottingham and completed his specialist training locally, achieving dual accreditation (CCT) in both Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology.

Dr. Francis divides his time between caring for patients with HIV, tuberculosis, and tropical infections, and providing diagnostic and treatment advice for complex infections through his microbiology practice. His clinical interests include spinal infections, community infection control, antimicrobial stewardship, and tackling health inequalities.

He also works closely with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) to improve prescribing in primary care and to update community antibiotic prescribing guidelines.

He contributes to the wider profession as a member of the Healthcare Infection Society (HIS) Professional Development Committee. Dr. Francis completed a Digital Education Fellowship at the Queen’s Medical Centre, where he developed innovative approaches to teaching and simulation. He integrates these methods into his clinical work to enhance patient care and support professional learning.
